Kimberwood Farm

Shetland Sheep, Emily, Tru & Rabb our Border Collies,
and all my various knitting projects.

Look what Emily can do!

Emily and I are actually PARTICIPATING in Derek Scrimgeour's Clinic at Kensmuir Farms in River Falls WI. When I started out on this trip I thought I was only going to audit the clinic. But when Susan's friend Alex couldn't make it Susan asked Emily and I to take their place. I have to say it is the most exciting thing for us. Emily is doing wonderfully. Derek told me she has lots of natural ability and already has a bit of an eye for the sheep. He also said she will be easy to train. I think she may be too good of a dog for a beginner like me! I hope I don't disappoint her!

We're heading off to camp!

I'll be offline through Sunday night. We are attending a working stockdog clinic in River Falls, WI at Kensmuir Farms. We're going to attempt to get Emily's (and mine) training started working sheep.

Wish us luck!!

See you all on Sunday.

Kim & Emily

Shepherd's Harvest Sheep & Wool Festival!

If your attending the festival this weekend, be sure to stop by the sheep barn and introduce your self! I'll be there with several of my Shetlands on display.

Kimberwood Oliver

This fleece sample came from Kimberwood Oliver's first shearing. If you click on the picture you can see a larger image. Hopefully you will see why I believe he is shaela. With the test breeding we did this year (shaela to shaela) we've so far established that he at least carries Mm. One of his ram lambs is definately modified and the other we are watching.

Kimberwood Lydia and SheltrgPines Arturo's Ram Lamb

I finally have him outside where I can take some pictures of him and his mom takes him to the back side of the pen they are in where we are in the process of cutting up and burning some dead trees. On top of that, it's a cloudy rainy day.

Once I had him outside with the other lambs I noticed that he isn't quite as black as I thought. He is more of an off black like William and Wallace are so we will have watch him to see if he is modified like his dad. You'll notice his mom is shedding right now and looks terrible. She was in the rise at shearing time.

If you click on the bottom picture you can get an idea what his color is right now.

Look who is coming to live in Minnesota!

This young ram lamb doesn't have a name yet. He is coming from Windswept Farms in Michigan. He is a mioget HST! His dam is out of Nonesuch Lucrecia and Kelly Northstar and his sire is Red Ram Billy Joel. We very much thank Heather Ludlam for breeding such an excellent ram for us!!
